Additional industrial sub-areas to be considered

Unique expertise of RD sub-claster is a bit more vague than other two areas. Based on group of experienced professionals and scolars in plastics area, together with their students, mentees and junior staff members, networking group is gradually shaping out.

There have been several pilot projects in the past to "institutionalize" this initiative. Today, within "Plastics Estonia" cluster, this network serves essential third branch and activity area. This branch is continuously involved to both Export and VET sub-clusters via immediate exchange of data, information, personal contacts etc.

As a result of three projects in the past, Innovation Guidance Approaches have been developed that are used as directions to be considered in elaboration of new projects of every potential type or scope. Those unique approaches are essentially complementing both other Cluster branches, and Plastics Estonia cluster in its whole entity.

Applied research partner network.

2012 - present

This network consists of different agencies and establishments, that offer equipment and infrastructure for applied research activities on different levels. The network also includes representative and competence centres that relate to sub-areas for plastics industries.

Elaboration of Polymers Research and Training Centre 2009-2011

The basic conditions for this centre were created, but due to economic recession, put aside. The formal structure and principles of this centre are today basis for the whole Plastic Estonia cluster.
